John Deutch, Ph.D.

John Deutch, former Director of Central Intelligence and former Deputy Secretary of Defense, is an Institute Professor of Physical Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At MIT, he has also served as Chairman of the Department of Chemistry, Dean of Science and Provost. His government posts included Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology and positions at the U.S. Department of Energy, including Undersecretary of the Department. Dr. Deutch serves as director for Citigroup, Cummins, Raytheon, and Schlumberger Ltd. He is a director or trustee of the Council on Foreign Relations, Resources for the Future, and the Urban Institute. He holds a B.A. from Amherst College, and both a B.S. in chemical engineering and Ph.D. in physical chemistry from M.I.T.

Fred Frank

Fred Frank is Vice Chairman and a Director of Lehman Brothers Inc. He is Chairman of the National Genetics Foundation, a Director of the Salk Institute, a member of the Pharmaceutical Executive Magazine advisory board, a member of the Board of Governors of the National Center for Genome Resources, Chairman of the Board of The Irvington Institute for Immunological Research, an Advisory Board Member of The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and an Advisory Board Member of the MIT Center for BioMedical Innovation. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Mr. Frank was Vice President and Director of Smith, Barney & Co. Mr. Frank has received many prestigious awards including being honored for Outstanding Contributions in the Field of Immunology by the Irvington Institute for Immunological Research in 1998 as well as receiving the Albert Einstein Award from the Weizman Institute of Science in 2004. Mr. Frank graduated from Yale and received his M.B.A. from Stanford.

Nathan Myhrvold, Ph.D.

Nathan Myhrvold is Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Intellectual Ventures, a private entrepreneurial firm. He focuses on  business interests relating to invention and intellectual property in areas such as computer science, biotechnology and IT. Prior to Intellectual Ventures, Dr. Myhrvold was Chief Technology Officer at Microsoft Corporation. During his 14 years at Microsoft, he founded Microsoft Research and numerous technology groups whose work resulted in leading products including Windows and Windows NT. Before Microsoft, Dr. Myhrvold was Founder and President of Dynamical Systems. He holds a B.S. and an M.A. from UCLA and a Ph.D. and M.A. from Princeton University.

Andrew Onderdonk, Ph.D.

Andrew Onderdonk is the Director of Clinical Microbiology at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Microbiology. He is also a Professor of Pathology at the Harvard Medical School. His research in the Channing Laboratory encompasses several areas related to human microbial flora and its role in health and disease. These areas include the pathogenesis of anaerobic microorganisms; the in-vivo and in-vitro efficacy of antimicrobials; normal microflora as it relates to the establishment and maintenance of a healthy ecosystem; and immunomodulators that may be used in the prevention and treatment of serious bacterial sepsis. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri at Columbia.
