Alice Jacobs, M.D. is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of IntelligentMDx, a molecular diagnostics company based in Cambridge, MA that develops and manufactures tests for rapid, precise, clinically impactful detection of infectious diseases. Dr. Jacobs founded IntelligentMDx after losing a patient during her medical training to a healthcare-associated infection to leverage discoveries made in life sciences to improve efficiency in healthcare delivery, increase the confidence of clinicians in treatment, and reduce the cost of care worldwide. Since founding the company, Dr. Jacobs has assembled a team of visionary leaders dedicated to her vision of integrating next-generation solutions into current health care practices.

In 2004, Scientific American named Dr. Jacobs as one of the top 50 innovators in science and technology. Dr. Jacobs was selected by the World Economic Forum as a member of the Forum of Young Global Leaders in 2006. She serves as a member of the Whitehead Board of Associates. She holds a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences as well as a B.A. in Art History from Stanford University. Dr. Jacobs earned her M.D. from Harvard Medical School.

CarterCharles R. Carter

Charles Carter brings over 17 years of business, financial, and biotechnology experience to IntelligentMDx. Most recently, he oversaw the finance, IT and operations functions for Adnexus Therapeutics, a protein therapeutics company purchased by Bristol-Myers Squibb. Before that, he was Senior Director, Financial Planning and Analysis for Shire Pharmaceuticals / Transkaryotic Therapies (TKT), where he played a key role in the $1.6BB acquisition of TKT by Shire. Prior to TKT, Mr. Carter was a strategy consulting partner at Mercer Management Consulting, where he worked primarily with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Charles holds an MBA as well as a Master’s degree in molecular genetics and cell biology from The University of Chicago.

DolingerDavid Dolinger, Ph.D.
Vice President, Research and Development

 

 

 


Dr. David Dolinger has over 18 years of industry experience in biotech. Prior to joining IntelligentMDx he worked in the areas of drug discovery, pharmacogenomics, and diagnostics, as well as founded his own company. David was former Director of Research and Development for IQuum, Inc., a Senior Manager of Product Support for Bayer Diagnostics and Scientific Director with Visible Genetics, Inc. which developed the first FDA cleared sequencing based assay. David is also considered a thought leader in molecular diagnostics and their regulation.

Dr. Dolinger received his doctorate in Microbiology and Immunology from Temple University Medical School and received his postdoctoral training at Princeton University.

HullyJames R. Hully, Ph.D.

James Hully joined IntelligentMDx in September 2002. He is the company’s lead inventor making significant contributions to the creation of next-generation diagnostic solutions. Dr. Hully’s development of proprietary algorithms dramatically improves the ability of molecular-based diagnostics to identify the cause of patient symptoms. His research and development group at IntelligentMDx has been awarded two SBIR grants to develop novel tests for multiplex detection of respiratory viral and perinatal pathogens.

Prior to joining IntelligentMDx, Dr. Hully held senior scientific positions at Ventana Medical Systems and Applied Biosystems, where he helped develop microarray and PCR platforms respectively. Previously, he completed his post-doctoral research at Genentech.

Dr. Hully holds a B.Sc. in Zoology and Marine Biology from University College of North Wales, and a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology and Toxicology from the University of London.

NadelMark Nadel, Ph.D.
Director of Bioinformatics and

Dr. Mark Nadel joined IntelligentMDx in February 2008 as Director of Bioinformatics and Software Development. Following his graduate studies, Dr. Nadel rose to the rank of Professor of Mathematics at the University of Notre Dame, where he assembled one of the foremost groups of model theorists in the world. During that period he also held positions at Caltech, the Institute for Advanced Study, Stanford and Carnegie-Mellon, among others, as well as in Israel and Canada. 

In 2000 Dr. Nadel entered the field of bioinformatics at Genome Therapeutics. Most recently, he was a computational biologist at the Broad Institute and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute after serving as Director of Informatics at US Genomics, where he was instrumental in securing their government supported program in bio-defense. Dr. Nadel has published more than forty papers in mathematics, computer science and biotechnology.

Dr. Nadel received his B.S. in Mathematics from Brooklyn College, CUNY and his doctorate in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin.

HollandElizabeth Holland
Director, Human Resources

 

 

 

 

Elizabeth Holland joined IntelligentMDx as Director of Human Resources in January 2008.  She has over 20 years of experience in the role of Human Resource Business Partner. Ms. Holland has been the human resource lead in several mergers, acquisitions and divestures. She has worked in the biotechnology industry since 1996 with drug discovery companies, genomic services and nucleic acid purification products, and companies developing automation platforms. She previously held positions in high technology, manufacturing and retail industries. 

Ms. Holland graduated from Northeastern University and holds her Senior Professional Human Resources Certification (SPHR). She has been a member of Northeast Human Resources Association (NEHRA) since 1988 and the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) since 1999.
